Fortis Donate Dialysis Manchine to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital
Company’s donation of dialysis machine will improve outlook for young patients.
Young patients undergoing dialysis at Manchester Children’s hospital will benefit from a new, life-enhancing dialysis machine donated by a North West-based property company.
Fortis Developments has funded the purchase of the £13,000 machine, which will allow the children to receive haemodialfiltration (HDF), a new and improved type of dialysis which helps to reduce side-effects and improve safety and wellbeing.
Kieran Moore, Director at Fortis Developments, said: “The purchase of the dialysis machine was a way to support Manchester Children’s Hospital’s amazing work and help the young patients in their care. We see this as the start of a longer-term relationship between Fortis and Manchester Children’s Hospital and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
X from the hospital said: “A huge thank you goes to Fortis Developments for this new dialysis machine. There is growing evidence that haemodialfiltration (HDF) is the most effective way to prevent cardiovascular disease in children and to support growth. Children on dialysis are committed to a lifetime of therapy and the effects are cumulative, optimisation of therapy at a young age is really important.
